"Surgical Strike",you've heard this word many times,like 'n' number times, and you might think that it is just an attack of a military group over terrorist and taking them out by any means and finishing them.Well you're partly correct, but actually surgical strike is A swift and targeted attack with the aim of minimum collateral damage to the nearby areas and civilians is a surgical strike.Neutralization of targets which may be a terrorist or group of terrorist with surgical strikes also prevents uprising of a full-blown war. Surgical strike attacks can be carried out via air strike, airdropping special ops teams or a swift ground operation or by sending special troops. And here you'll see some of the world famous surgical strike that has happen in the world.

1)Osama Bin Laden :

US special forces charged in a safe house at Abbottabad, Pakistan in May 2011.This was the same place where the Chief of Al-Qaeda Osama Bin Laden was hidden. The operation was led out by CIA and was given the code name Operation Neptune Spear and was carried out by US Navy Seals. The raid to the extremists compound was launched from Afghanistan and they ended up taking out Osama Bin Laden during the raid. After they were successful in their raid they took his body for identification and within 24 hrs of his death buried him in the sea.

2) Indian Army in Myanmar :

A team of around 70 Indian Commandos went inside the jungles of Myanmar on 10th June,2015 to carry out a surgical strike. The operation went around for 40 minutes and the army took down 50-100 Naga militants.Since the strike was swift,the militants had no time to retaliate and things went smoothly. No one from the Indian Army came out injured during this operation.

3) Khalid Sheikh Muhammad's Capture:

The CIA led a surgical strike in March 2003 to capture 3 terror suspects who were hiding out in Pakistan. Amongst whom Khalid Sheikh Muhammad was said to be the key planner who caused 9/11. After the strike in Rawalpindi,he was talen to Guantanamo detention facility for advanced interrogation techniques.

In November 1979,some students from Iran took 52 Americans as hostages for 444 days at United States of America embassy in Tehran,the capital of Iran. Jimmy Carter who was the president of United States of America back then had initiated a secret rescue mission. But the mission ended up being a disaster as the US air force got stuck in sandstorm and even had to face a fire during evacuation. That's not all,they even lost a helicopter in a crash. The failure of the operation damaged the operation worldwide.

5) Operation Nifty Package :

In 1989, America began a mission to capture Panamanian dictator, Manuel Noriega. In order to hide from delta forces Noriega took refuge in Apostolic Nunciature. Delta forces have to use deafening music and other psychological tactics to convince him to leave the place and surrender himself. The operation was successful but a National Advisor pointed out that the psychological harassment was a low moment in the history of United States Army. As their approach although successful,was silly and undignified.

6) Black Hawk Down :

In the year 1993,the special forces of United States had carried out a mission ended capture Somali warlord Mohammed Farrah Aidid. He had support from civilian fighters who were also armed. What was supposed to be a 30 min operation turned out to be a over night one,as two black hawk US helicopter's were taken down and three were damaged by RPG's.

7)The URI surgical strike :

As a retaliation to the URI attack, which led to the demise of 18 soldiers,on the 28th of November 2016,India went to carry out a surgical strike in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).Indian conducted Surgical Strike on terror launchpad across the Line of Control (LoC). Special forces were involved in this operation which began around 12:30 am and within 4 hours the army took down 38 terrorist and 2 soldiers from Pakistan Army.They also inflicted to heavy casualties on everyone from the terrorist to their guides and handler's.

8)The Operation At Entebbe :

The surgical strike by the Israeli Defence Force is remembered as one of the most clinical surgical strike in the history.In 1976, some members from the popular front of the liberation of Palestine had hijacked a plane and forced it to land at Entebbe International Airport, Uganda.The Operation had taken place over night time.The Israeli Transport had carried over 100 commandos over 2500 miles to Uganda.
