Weird Things That Are Considered Normal in These Countries

Each and every country that exist in the world has its own unique culture and practices. But not everything that is unique is normal. There are some weird things that has been followed by people which are actually considered normal in these countries.

1) Chilling In Cemeteries - Denmark

People usually hangout with their friends in parks and cafes, but in Denmark, it is common to socialize in cemeteries. The Cemeteries are well maintain and many people flock there to chill when the weather is good. The Assistens Cemeteries in Copenhagen is a popular relaxing place teeming with people who come with picnic basket and tea with their friends and family. It is the Resting place for notable danish figures like, Hans Christian Anderson, Soren Kierkegaard, and Christian Wilhelm Eckersberg.

2) Salty Cheese In Chocolate - Colombia

Thick and frothy hot chocolate is go-to drink for many of us on cold wintry nights. But in Colombia there is an unusual ingredient that goes in to this hot chocolate and that is Salty cheese.  According to many people this seemingly odd combination actually taste very well and pretty much delicious. The chocolate "CHOCOLATE SANTAFEREÑO" is a type of Colombian hot chocolate that's made using cocoa, milk,cane sugar and spices like cinnamon and gloves. And then Comes the Cheese!! Chunks of the Creamy Queso Cheese are dolloped in to the chocolate and stirred in before being served.

3) Red Ink is Bad Luck - South Korea
In South Korea it would be a serious Faux Pas (a slip or blunder in etiquette, manners, or conduct; an embarrassing social blunder or indiscretion) to write someone's name in red ink. South Korean's are known to follow some of the most unusual practices and it is always best to be careful of the color that you use while jotting something on a paper. In South Korea, writing someone's name in Red ink is considered bad luck. Tradionally, writing someone's name in red ink meant that the person has passed away.

4) No Street Names - Japan
Japan is the land of rising sun and with it is has many unique features. It is also considered to one of the most disciplined country in the world. But do you know that most street's of the most disciplined country have no name. Instead of street names, block and sections are used to identify localities. The system used for postal addresses in Japan is quite complex and starts with prefectures, which are similar to states. The prefecture is followed by the city or municipality,the district and then the block or land number. This may seen confusing initially, but it is quite easy to find blocks on the city map. However there are few exceptions when it comes to main streets and highways.

5) Giving A Clock Means Burying A Person - China
In most countries, gifting a nice wristwatch or a clock is considered to be quite normal. But in China,it is important not to give a clock as a gift to someone. That is because, the phrase "GIVING A CLOCK" in Chinese sounds similar to the term of " BURYING A PERSON". So it is considered a sign of serious bad luck to gift a clock or a watch to someone

6)Chicken For Desert - Turkey

Usually chicken is associated with savoury foods and dishes like meatballs, burgers and caesar salads. But in Turkey, chicken is also used to make a special dessert.The TAVUK GÖĞSÜ is a traditional Turkish pudding. The dish is made using soften chicken,meat,milk,sugar,cracked rice and cinnamon. Today it is considered a signature dish of turkey and a favorite dessert for many foodies around the world.

7) Pointing A Finger is Rude - Malaysia
Usually, we use our index fingers to point at someone. Of course,almost everywhere, the gesture isn't counted among the nicest gestures you could do. But in some countries, such gestures are considered rude and unfriendly. In Malaysia and Indonesia, pointing a finger at someone, is considered as incredibly rude and unpleasant. Instead the usual practice is to point at or gesture towards thing or people with thumb. This is considered a nicer and a more polite way of doing it. Yet in some countries, pointing at people in any manner is considered a societal NO-NO.

8) Be Serious While Greeting - Nigeria

The Yoruba people are ethnic group that mainly inhabit the countries of Nigeria, Ghana,and Benin. The Yoruba people take greeting and similar rituals quite seriously. While,greetings elder the youth are expected to drop to their knees. Especially the women are expected to kneel while greeting, while the men lie in prostrate. The gestures is considered to be a polite way of greeting the elderly. This is one unique feature of the Yoruba people which distinguishes them from other ethnic group of Nigeria.

9) Voting Is Compulsory - Australia
In most democratic countries, voting is a right in which the people take pride. Voting is considered an important right for the people who get to vote and elect their  government by the majority. Although, every citizens above a certain age is encouraged to vote, it is not mandatory. But in Australia, you really don't have a choice. Voting in election is not only a right but also a compulsion, for everyone above the age of 18 years. Electors who failed to cast their vote without any justification are charged with fine.
